ugh it's so frustrating to see brands have a vested interest in ai in a way that we can't control.. it almost becomes a moral or philosophical question of whether we should allow ai to have a sense of taste, whether intentionally funded or natural. I guess it's inevitable at some point -- it's the same thing we went through in the early 2000s when people discovered the power of SEO marketing and search filtering :/
totally, i think its probably very similar to the birth of SEO marketing.. but this is particularly interesting because it'll be another avenue for brands to monitor. my friend works at google and was saying that brands are actually starting just now to ask about how they're showing up in ai answers... will have to keep an eye on the space
Regarding olipop - pretty wild to see. At my previous job we were looking to invest into them at something like a $20M valuation, and turned it down because it was too expensive. Even then felt like a mistake because they clearly knew what they were doing way more than most early stage CPGs and deserved a high multiple
trying out a bunch but right now -- a deepak chopra one i saw on spotify and also melissa wood health because i'm using my friends account, but i need to do some due diligence and find the best one!
wow also to the olipop - i probably would've had a hard time discerning between olipop vs poppi at the time because they really are so similar in their product + strategy, but now its clear poppi is blowing an insane budget on their marketing vs olipop... but clearly there is room for both in the market. relatedly, i saw an article by wsj that coca-cola is launching a prebiotic soda brand called simply pop... forgot to throw that in this week's
I've found Waking Up really beneficial; it has a more philosophical bent (sort of the whole process is about looking at the sense of self and viewing it as an illusion, which was new to me)
I also have enjoyed The Way, which is nice if you like something that is quite structured where you make progress linearly
I think both have free trials but i might be able to gift you a free trial if not, lmk!
Yes yes yes to context and preferences being so central to taste !! Something I've been thinking a lot about
you and me both!!

Nice! A lot of options for meditation out there now; I feel much better when I am in a consistent streak of it
Saw that Coke launched that…I wonder how aggressively they’ve tried to acquire olipop / if it means olipop will stay independent and go public
i want to try some others! lmk if you have a favorite so far!!
