This was such a great read. So many of these I've already started to see in the market place as well, especially the tastemaker one and what it really means to be a tastemaker.
I'd be interested to see how taste-making and curation blends with AI in 2025. I feel like we're already sweeping a bunch of ai advancements under the rug because of how fast they iterate, but we'll need to slow down and be intentional with where we draw the line on AI - Curation and Taste-making might be that line. It's such a humanist process, idt AI will take the cake on that one, but I'm sure I'll be surprised.
Great post! I think you’re very much on to something with the taste-making trend. I wrote about the rise of brand and art world/museum collaborations, which are only getting smarter and more considered and no longer reserved for just luxury brands. And Nikita weighed in on the taste/curation trend: https://kristenvinakmens.substack.com/p/brands-just-cant-quit-the-art-world?r=325p
totally makes sense - this was a great one i remember reading it! i think the brand and art world collabs is emblematic of this for sure and is already happening. curious to see what happens this year (probably more and more of that)!
Gleaned so much from this post, and it spawned so many Wikipedia rabbit holes from Ettore Sottsass to George Nelson, “pencil points” magazine, to Robert Brownjohn, then a prolific jazz era photographer that brought me to the Three Duces Bar in New York and then to ‘21’ Club which happens to be the exact place that’s inspired the restaurant I’ve been working on brand identity for (I’m a marketing coordinator at a hospital group) and all I can say is wow. What a treadmill session haha ! Thank you thank you thank you Zoya!!!!!
This article is gooooood. Very niche, very on point!
I was expecting to see the brands here, but nothing yet - still waiting for miu miu and the cool brands. What brands are already here?
Smaller brands like still here. Just saw that the real real also joined

I like your format changes. You cover a lot without being too verbose. Also nice observation on the upcoming trends for 25
